The eight service areas of Pori: where to find them and why to choose them.

  • Ahlainen is the northernmost district of Pori, including Lamppi and Kellahti regions. In these brisk villages, culture and nature come together. According to the residents, Ahlainen is peace of nature next to the city and modern living in a historical environment. The nationally recognised cultural landscape with vast open fields, the sea, magnificent outdoor possibilities, and an active village action is the heart of the Ahlainen district. The population of the village will more than double as the summer arrives.

  • In Eastern Pori, living possibilities are diverse– from detached houses to rowhouses to apartment blocks to an allotment garden. Even though the district is near to the city centre, you can still live near nature. The forests, trails, the river, the old railway bridges, and the beautiful buildings make the district a peaceful and congenial place to live in.  The residents highlight the numerous parks, playgrounds, and the jogging landscapes alongside Varvourinjuopa waterways. There is also plenty to see and hear for birdwatchers!

    Eastern Pori includes following boroughs: Vanhakoivisto, Väinölä, Kalaholma, Lukkarinsanta, Tupala, Koivistonluoto, Sampola, Impola, Metallinkylä, Mikkola, Kartano, and Harmaalinna.

  • Lush and spacious, as it is summed by the residents. The city centre of Pori is compact in size, and everything is within easy reach also by foot or by bike. The diverse services are near each other, and moving about is easy and quick whether you choose walking, bicycle, car, or public transportation.

    The National Urban Park crossing the city centre encourages to go out for recreational activities while enjoying the nature, and you can even find an artificial ice track at the city centre during wintertime. The city’s busy culture life offers plenty of activities and adventures all-year round. Kirjurinluoto Park with its magnificent landscapes and activities is just a bridge away from the city centre.

    An idyllic wooden house neighbourhood of Viikkari, the historical old town of Pori, and many more modern means of living make living in the city centre diverse. In addition to the core of the city centre, the city centre includes the boroughs of Viikkari (5th borough), Riihiketo, Kuninkaanhaka, and Uusikoivisto.

  • Lavia is located in the middle of lakes, in the rural peace. The residents of Lavia highlight the cleanliness, peacefulness, and the vicinity to the nature as the best parts of the region. The beaches of the lakes Lavijärvi and Velhonnokka, the hill Huuhkajavuori, fields and forests are examples of a rustic landscape. Lavia is also known for active village actions. In Lavia you will find everything you need in your daily life; the city centre of Pori and other neighbouring cities are a car drive away.

    The district of Western Pori extends from the vicinity of the city centre to the sea: from the wooden house neighbourhoods of Kuukkari through many residential districts to the seaside villages. According to the residents, Western Pori is a good place to spend your entire life in. Services cater to the youngest ones of the families to the most senior ones. Commuting to the city centre or even further is easy, as the area is close to national highways. Outdoor recreational area Pori Forest is right at your doorstep.

    The district of Western Pori includes boroughs of Käppärä, Musa, Liinaharja, Tuorsniemi, Vähärauma, Klasipruuki, Tiiliruukki, Pinomäki, Lattomeri, Paratiisinmäki, Leppäkorpi, Viikinäinen, Pietniemi, Makholma, Viasvesi, Preiviiki, and Paarnoori.

  • At the end of the Highway 2 awaits Meri-Pori, “Sea Pori”, described by the residents as a charming, maritime, and fresh region. The district is known for the sandy beaches of Yyteri, but one can experience the sea in Meri-Pori in other ways as well: on the wetlands, and in the river delta, in the birdwatchers’ paradise, in the idyllic village of Reposaari, in pine barrens, in rich fields, deserted beaches, or on dozens of forest trails.

    The district is unique both for its nature and residents. The residents of Meri-Pori have a communal sense, and they organise diverse activities to attract people from around the city and the world. Meri-Pori is located in its own maritime peace, only a short drive from the city centre. The residents describe their district as a relaxed and peaceful feel-good place.

    Meri-Pori extends from Ulasoori all the way to Reposaari. Along the way there are such boroughs as Uusiniitty, Kyläsaari, Enäjärvi, Pihlava, Kaanaa, Mäntyluoto, Uniluoto, and Lampaluoto.

  • The lush Noormarkku is located on the northern part of Pori. Active hobby, village and club actions, sports areas, and vast nature routes encourage to live an active life, in addition to the rustic peace. The Ahlström ironworks area attracts visitors from around the world, and it is an important part of the homestead of the residents of Noormarkku. The basic services are near, the more diverse services of the city centre are within reach of a fifteen-minute bus or car journey. Noormarkku has a good bicycle route to the city centre as well.

    The district of Noormarkku also includes Söörmarkku and Palstakallio. The district extends from the east from the village of Lassila to the west, combining Ahlainen and Kellahti to the district of Noormarkku.

  • The district of Northern Pori begins from the northern side of the city centre, from the riverside of Kokemäenjoki to the busy area of Puuvilla to a total serenity of nature. The landscapes vary from the river to the sea and from field plateaus to proudly standing cliffs where you can take a dip into water at the popular Ankkalampi pond. The residents appreciate the diverse outdoor possibilities, playgrounds, the sense of community, and congeniality by living just a few kilometres from the city centre, including the best of the countryside.

    The district of Northern Pori includes the boroughs of Isosanta, Pormestarinluoto, Hyvelänviiki, Lotskeri, Toejoki, Murtosenmutka, Isojoenranta, Tuulikylä, Ruosniemi, Järvikylä, Hyvelä, Toukari, and Lyttylä.
